Valve repair surgery is a specialized cardiac procedure aimed at restoring the function of damaged or diseased heart valves. The heart has four valves—mitral, aortic, tricuspid, and pulmonary—that regulate blood flow through the heart.
When a valve becomes dysfunctional due to conditions such as valve stenosis (narrowing) or valve regurgitation (leakage), it can lead to symptoms including breathlessness, fatigue, and eventually heart failure.
Unlike valve replacement, valve repair preserves the patient’s natural valve, resulting in better physiological performance, fewer long-term complications, and improved durability.
